Shows
Autumn
2003 saw The Players' Theatre enjoy a triumphant return to the London stage with
a six-show mini season at The Venue just off Leicester Square. Chaired
by the incomparable Chairman Dominic
Le Foe, with music by the Players' orchestra himself,
Derek Taverner, the weekly performances provided the traditional
mixture of wit, musical talent and showmanship that have delighted
audiences for over 65 years. However, Derek retired at the end of
2005, and his place has been taken over by Peter McCarthy - whom
we have not yet had a chance to photograph.
We
decided to reduce the frequency of our shows at The Venue,
and have found the additional venue of the Arts Theatre, where we will be able to put on shows on weekdays - both matinees and evenings.
Our Spring season, on
the last Sundays of January, February, and March were well-attended and
covered their costs, so we have repeated this pattern on the last Sundays
of September (30th), October (28th),(sadly, cancelled by the theatre)and November (25th)
Every show will run from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. and will
appeal to people in town for the day, who want to get away early
in the evening. Equally, of course, the time will suit those who
want to have an early evening supper.
